Eating that survives a Singapore work week

Nutrition coaching at Sggymlifestyle is habit-based. We change one thing at a time so a hawker lunch, a food-court dinner and a late finish in River Valley do not undo the training block.

Method

One change at a time

A usual Singapore week is already full. If we rewrite every meal on day one, the plan lasts until the first client dinner. We pick one change that the week can carry: protein at lunch, a drink without sugar, a later dinner that still leaves room for sleep, or a breakfast you will actually eat before a 06:30 class. When that change holds for a fortnight, we add the next. This is slower to describe than a seven-day menu and more likely to still be true in week six.

We specialise in people who eat out more days than they cook. That is not a moral failing in this city; it is a logistics fact. The coaching is built around the stalls and food courts you already use, not around a kitchen you do not have time to stand in.

The month

What a month of coaching includes

The month starts with a forty-five minute conversation: a usual week, training days, sleep, and whether a doctor or dietitian is already involved. If a clinical diet is in play, we stop and refer. If it is not, we agree the first habit, a shopping template you can use at a supermarket or a wet market, and a simple way to look at menus you already photograph. Weekly check-ins are written, not a surprise call in a meeting. You can send a stall photo and a question; you will get a short answer, not a lecture. At the end of the month we decide whether to continue, pause, or keep the one habit without a paid month behind it.

Remote check-ins are the default after the first meeting. If you also train in the studio, the coach who writes the training sheet can see the habit note so a heavy lower-body day is not stacked on a day you also decided to skip lunch.

Out

Hawker centres and food courts

The plate is still a plate when it comes from a stall. Choose a protein you can see — fish, chicken, tofu, eggs, a lean cut — then decide whether the rest of the plate is rice, noodles or a soup. Soups and grilled or steamed dishes usually leave more room in the day than a plate that is mostly fried. You do not need a banned list. A fried dish on a Friday is not a failure if the rest of the week still holds the habit you picked.

Drinks are the quiet load. Sugar in a cup does not announce itself the way a second plate does. A drink without sugar is often the first change because it survives a queue. If you train in the late afternoon, eat something with protein before you walk into Great World so the session is not done on a long empty stretch from breakfast. If you train at 06:30, decide the night before whether that is a small breakfast or a session done fasted; we will pick one and stick to it for the block rather than invent a new rule each morning.

Food courts in malls, including Great World, follow the same logic. Look at the protein, look at the starch, look at whether the cooking method is mostly oil. Then eat. We would rather you eat a complete plate you can repeat than skip lunch and raid a snack shelf at 16:00.

Beside training

How this sits next to a training block

When nutrition coaching runs beside 1:1 or group training, the week is one sheet. A deload week is a poor moment to also cut dinner. A high-volume lower-body week is a poor moment to also skip carbohydrate at lunch. We do not “punish” a missed session with a tighter plate. If travel or a closing wrecks the week, we keep the one habit and let the rest wait. Progress here is whether the habit is still true, not whether a scale moved in seven days.

This is general nutrition coaching. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions and we do not manage clinical diets — for that we will refer you to a doctor or an accredited dietitian.

The monthly rate is S$180, or S$140 if you already hold a training package. Details sit on the pricing page.
